PT100 / PT1000 RTD Temperature Sensor

PT100 RTD Temperature Sensor is a platinum resistance temperature sensor designed for accurate and stable temperature measurement in industrial equipment, process systems and temperature control applications. PT100 uses a nominal resistance of 100Ω at 0°C, while PT1000 uses 1000Ω at 0°C.

The straight probe design is suitable for direct temperature measurement in equipment, tanks, ovens and process systems. Fiberglass cable is available for applications requiring higher cable-side temperature resistance.

4-wire PT100 and PT1000 configurations minimize the influence of lead resistance and are suitable for laboratory, calibration and higher-accuracy measurement systems.

All cable types can be supplied with shielded or unshielded construction. The allowable operating temperature of a complete RTD assembly depends on the probe, cable, sealing and installation configuration.

PT100 / PT1000 Wiring Options

2-Wire RTD

Simple and economical wiring for general temperature measurement. Lead resistance can influence measurement accuracy, especially with longer cables.

3-Wire RTD

3-wire wiring is the standard stock configuration and provides improved compensation for lead resistance in industrial temperature measurement systems.

4-Wire RTD

4-wire wiring provides the highest measurement accuracy by minimizing the influence of lead resistance and is recommended for laboratory and precision measurement applications.

PT100 and PT1000 sensors provide an analog resistance signal and require an appropriate RTD input module, transmitter, temperature controller or data acquisition system. PT100 typically uses an excitation current of approximately 0.3–1 mA, while PT1000 commonly uses approximately 0.1–0.3 mA to reduce self-heating effects.
