Oil Drum Heater for 20L and 200L Drums
Oil Drum Heater is a flexible silicone heating blanket designed to heat liquids and viscous materials inside metal and plastic drums. It wraps around the outside of the drum and transfers heat through the drum wall, helping reduce viscosity and improve material flow during pumping, pouring, dispensing and processing.
EaseWise provides standard 20L and 200L oil drum heaters with 110V or 220V AC power, 800W to 3000W configurations, and mechanical or digital temperature control. Custom sizes, power ratings and heating configurations are also available.

Important: For plastic drums, the recommended operating temperature should generally be limited to 100°C or below to reduce the risk of drum deformation. Flammable or explosive materials require an appropriate explosion-proof heating solution and application assessment.
How Does an Oil Drum Heater Work?
The flexible heating element heats the outside wall of the drum. Heat then passes through the drum wall and gradually warms the material inside.
This indirect heating method is useful for oils, grease, adhesives, resin and other viscous materials that become difficult to pump or dispense at lower temperatures. A temperature controller helps maintain the required heating temperature.
Temperature Control Options
Mechanical Knob Controller
The mechanical knob controller provides simple temperature adjustment. The heater switches heating on and off automatically to maintain the selected temperature, with typical control accuracy of approximately ±5°C.
Digital Temperature Controller
The digital controller provides more precise temperature adjustment and displays the measured temperature. Digital configurations can provide control accuracy of approximately ±1°C depending on the model.
Note: The controller normally measures the drum-wall temperature rather than the actual internal liquid temperature. The internal material temperature may therefore be lower than the measured drum-wall temperature.
Oil Drum Heater Applications
These flexible drum heaters are commonly used when controlled external heating is required to maintain material temperature or reduce viscosity.
- Oil and lubricant heating
- Grease and viscous liquid heating
- Adhesive and glue heating
- Resin and chemical material heating
- Wax heating
- Paint and coating material heating
- Food and industrial material processing
- Material preheating before pumping or dispensing
- Temperature maintenance during storage and processing

Oil Drum Heater Installation
The heating blanket is designed for quick installation around the outside of the drum.
- Make sure the drum surface is clean and dry.
- Place the heating surface against the drum wall.
- Wrap the heater around the drum with close contact.
- Secure it with the supplied clips, straps or Velcro fastening system.
- Connect the heater to the correct power supply and set the required temperature.
After heating, switch off and unplug the heater. Allow the drum and heater to cool before removal. Inspect the silicone surface and electrical cable for damage before reuse.
Safety Instructions
- Do not operate the heater freely in air without proper drum contact.
- Do not fold or sharply crease the heating blanket during operation.
- Do not puncture or mechanically damage the silicone heating surface.
- For plastic drums, keep the recommended operating temperature at or below 100°C.
- Keep the controller and electrical connections away from liquid spills.
- Disconnect power before removing the heater.
- Do not use a standard heater for flammable or explosive materials. An appropriate explosion-proof solution is required.
- Stop using the heater if cracks, cuts, exposed wiring or other damage is found.
Oil Drum Heater vs Drum Heating Blanket
