What is an oil drum heater? An oil drum heater is a flexible external heating device used to warm materials stored in metal or plastic drums. It helps reduce the viscosity of oil, grease, adhesives, resin and other viscous materials, making them easier to pump, pour, dispense or process.

How Does an Oil Drum Heater Work?

An oil drum heater is installed around the outside of a drum. The flexible heating element generates heat and transfers it through the drum wall to the material inside.

By warming the material gradually and maintaining a suitable temperature, the heater can reduce viscosity and improve flow during pumping, pouring, dispensing or processing.

A temperature controller allows the operator to adjust the heating temperature according to the material, drum type and application requirements.

A typical flexible drum heater consists of a heating layer, temperature-control components and a fastening system. Silicone rubber is commonly used as the flexible heating material because it can conform closely to the curved surface of a drum.
