Industrial Drum Heater for Oil & Barrel Heating
Industrial Drum Heater is a flexible heating solution designed to heat and maintain the temperature of liquids, oils, greases and other viscous materials stored in metal or plastic drums. The heater wraps around the outside of the drum and transfers heat through the drum wall, helping reduce viscosity and improve material flow during pumping, dispensing, pouring and processing.
Our silicone drum heating solutions are available for common 20L and 200L drums, with standard 110V or 220V AC configurations. Custom sizes, power ratings, temperature controls and installation methods are also available for industrial and OEM applications.

How Does an Industrial Drum Heater Work?
An Industrial Drum Heater heats the external surface of a drum using a flexible silicone heating element. When electrical power is supplied, the heating element generates heat and transfers it through the drum wall to the material inside.
This indirect heating method is useful for materials that become more viscous at lower temperatures. Increasing the material temperature can reduce viscosity and improve flow during pumping, dispensing, pouring or processing.
The heater should be installed with close contact against the drum surface to improve heat transfer and maintain consistent heating performance.

20L and 200L Drum Heater Options
Standard configurations are available for common 20L and 200L drums.

Temperature Control Options
Mechanical Knob Controller
The mechanical controller allows the operator to adjust the heating temperature using a rotary knob. The heater automatically switches heating off when the set temperature is reached and resumes heating when the temperature drops.
The typical control accuracy is approximately ±5°C.
Digital Temperature Controller
The digital controller provides more precise temperature adjustment and displays the measured drum-wall temperature. Depending on the configuration, control accuracy can be approximately ±1°C.
Some digital configurations can also include additional over-temperature protection.
Important: The controller normally measures the drum-wall temperature rather than the actual internal material temperature. For high-viscosity materials, the internal temperature may be lower than the measured drum-wall temperature.
How to Install an Industrial Drum Heater
The flexible heating blanket is designed for quick installation around the outside of the drum.
- Make sure the outside surface of the drum is clean and dry.
- Remove oil, water, dust and other contaminants from the heating area.
- Unfold the heating blanket and place the heating surface against the drum wall.
- Wrap the heater around the drum and ensure close contact with the surface.
- Avoid wrinkles, large gaps or loose sections between the heater and drum.
- Secure the heater using spring clips, straps or Velcro fastening systems.
- Keep the temperature controller away from the drum opening and possible liquid splashes.
- Arrange the power cable properly and avoid excessive pulling, crushing or bending.
- Ensure the electrical connection and grounding are suitable for the application.
The installation normally requires only a few minutes and no special tools. After use, the heater can be removed and reused on compatible drums.
Industrial Drum Heater Safety Instructions
Correct installation and operating conditions are important for safe and reliable drum heating.
- Do not operate the heater without proper contact with the drum. Avoid operating the heating blanket freely in air.
- Do not fold or sharply crease the heating blanket.
- Do not puncture or mechanically damage the silicone heating blanket.
- For plastic drums, keep the recommended operating temperature at or below 100°C to reduce the risk of deformation.
- Do not cover the heater with insulation materials unless the complete heating system has been designed for such use.
- Do not use a standard heater for flammable or explosive materials. An appropriate explosion-proof heating solution and application assessment are required.
- Keep controllers and electrical connections away from liquid spills.
- Disconnect the power supply before removing the heater.
- Stop using the heater if cracks, cuts, exposed wiring or other damage are found.

Industrial Drum Heater vs Other Flexible Heaters
A drum heater is specifically designed to wrap around cylindrical containers. It is suitable when the main requirement is to heat or maintain the temperature of material inside a drum or barrel.
For flat or curved equipment surfaces where an ultra-thin heating element is required, a Standard PI Heater may be more suitable.
For larger flat or customized industrial surfaces, a Silicone Rubber Heater can provide a thicker and more robust flexible heating solution.
