Etched-Foil Silicone Heater
An etched foil silicone heater is a flexible heating
element designed for applications requiring a thin profile, customized
geometry and controlled heat distribution. It uses a chemically etched
resistive foil circuit laminated between fiberglass-reinforced silicone
rubber insulation.
Compared with conventional wire-wound silicone heaters, etched-foil
designs can provide more uniform heating, a low-profile construction
and flexible circuit layouts. Custom shapes, cutouts, heating zones
and temperature-sensing options can be specified according to your
application and production requirements.
Optional pressure-sensitive adhesive (PSA) backing is available for
suitable mounting surfaces. Voltage, wattage, dimensions, lead wires
and temperature-control accessories can be discussed during the
customization process.
Etched-Foil Silicone Heater Features
- Uniform Heat Distribution:
The flat resistive foil circuit supports a distributed heating pattern
designed to reduce localized hot and cold spots. - High Watt Density:
The etched circuit layout can support application-specific watt density.
The achievable value depends on heater dimensions, materials and
operating conditions. - Thin, Low-Profile Construction:
A compact heater structure can fit applications with limited installation
space. - Fast Thermal Response:
The low-mass heating structure can respond quickly to control inputs,
depending on the heated object and installation conditions. - Flexible Custom Design:
Custom outlines, holes, cutouts, heating zones and distributed wattage
layouts may be available according to the design. - Flexible Installation:
The silicone construction can conform to suitable curved or contoured
surfaces within the specified bending limits. - Reliable Electrical Insulation:
Fiberglass-reinforced silicone rubber provides an insulating layer.
The completed assembly must be selected for its actual electrical
and environmental requirements. - Optional Temperature Accessories:
PT100, NTC thermistors, thermocouples, thermal fuses and thermostats
may be available subject to design confirmation. - Multiple Mounting Options:
PSA adhesive backing, mechanical clamping or other approved mounting
methods can be considered for the application.
Etched-Foil Silicone Heater Construction and Design
The heater consists of a patterned resistive alloy foil circuit
laminated within silicone rubber insulation reinforced with fiberglass.
The circuit pattern, insulation, lead exit and optional sensor positions
can be designed around the available installation space and heating
requirements.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can I order a custom shape and size?
Custom shapes, dimensions, holes, cutouts, voltage and wattage can be
reviewed according to your drawing and application. Send your drawing
or specifications for a feasibility review and quotation.
What is PSA adhesive backing?
PSA is pressure-sensitive adhesive backing used to attach a heater
to a suitable clean, dry surface. The adhesive type and its temperature
limits must be confirmed for the intended application.
Can temperature sensors or thermal protection be integrated?
PT100, NTC thermistors, thermocouples, thermal fuses and thermostats
may be available depending on the heater design. Please specify the
required sensor type and installation position.
Are certifications available?
Please advise which certifications or compliance documents your
application requires. Availability must be confirmed against the
actual product model and applicable requirements.
Can the heater be used outdoors or in wet environments?
Suitability depends on the heater sealing, lead exits, installation
and environmental protection rating. An appropriate protection level
must be confirmed for the complete assembly. The heater should not be
immersed in liquid unless specifically designed and approved for that use.
What information is needed for a quotation?
Please provide a drawing or dimensions, voltage, wattage, target
temperature, quantity, mounting method and any sensor or lead-wire
requirements. Our team can review the information and advise on
the next steps.
Installation and Safety Notes
- Do not operate the heater without appropriate temperature control
and thermal protection for the application. - Install the heater according to the approved design. Unintended
air gaps or poor thermal contact may cause overheating. - Apply PSA adhesive only to surfaces prepared according to the
adhesive manufacturer’s instructions. - Do not fold, sharply crease, pinch or mechanically damage the
resistive circuit. - High-voltage AC versions must be installed and wired by qualified
personnel in accordance with applicable electrical requirements. - Confirm the operating temperature, wattage, mounting method and
environmental limits before use.
