Temperature Range
| Type | Typical Range |
|---|---|
| Type K | -200°C to 1260°C |
| Type J | -40°C to 750°C |
| Type T | -200°C to 350°C |
| Type E | -200°C to 800°C |
| Type N | -200°C to 1300°C |
Actual operating temperature depends on thermocouple type, sheath material, probe diameter, installation, and service conditions. The junction box working temperature is ≤200°C. An extended probe can be used to keep the junction box away from high-temperature sources.
For help selecting K, J, T, E, N, S, R, or B thermocouples, see our Thermocouple Types and Selection Guide.
Standard Stock Sizes
| Probe Diameter | Insert Length | Mounting |
|---|---|---|
| Φ3 mm | 50–500 mm | Thread / Flange |
| Φ4 mm | 50–600 mm | Thread / Flange |
| Φ5 mm | 50–600 mm | Thread / Flange |
| Φ6 mm | 50–800 mm | Thread / Flange |
| Φ8 mm | 100–800 mm | Thread / Flange |
Stock lengths are available within the listed ranges. Longer or non-standard dimensions can be custom-made.
Installation Notes
- Select the appropriate threaded or flange connection for the equipment.
- Install the probe to the required measurement depth.
- The probe insertion depth is fixed after assembly.
- Route the cable through the cable gland and maintain proper junction box sealing.
- Keep the junction box away from direct heat sources when required.
- For hazardous-area installations, verify that the complete assembly and installation meet the applicable site requirements.
